Most of the students who are planning to get enroll in any MBA program aboard need to spend at least two years there. Most of the applications find it as one of the important decision for life. However, an accountant seeking career in this field must be aware of the fact that finance would be the right choice for him, but for those who do not know about a particular field for them it is one of the toughest question, a question which would determine their career.
Many B-Schools and universities in abroad require the Graduate Management Admission Test or Graduate Record Examination- involving three months of preparation for most candidates. Some schools also require a proof of good English, if it is not a candidate's native language. But the difficult test is perhaps getting your curriculum vitae into into direction and articulating your motives to study their.
When to apply
MBA programmes are seasonal in both US and Europe, some schools run two courses in a year. There applications are diverted into branches, enrolling deadlines. Therefore, to apply for a course starting in September, you need to apply by March at the latest or by July for a course beginning in January 2012. So before applying to any school or university please check their deadlines.
In the US, many candidates apply to multiple schools at the same time. It is always suggested that students should made application to five or six different colleges at the same time. One or two should be ideal choices; a couple should also be in the list. You should always make a list of colleges which you are sure about that you will surely get admission in them.
To secure a seat in any of the B-School every student has to take either GRE or GMAT test. GMAT is still leading the market and capturing the maximum share of the market because it is widely accepted by most of the colleges and universities. So before taking any of these two exams check either the college is accepting the GRE or GMAT. Some schools outside the US require neither. So the view is clear if you are planning to get enroll check in advance what test the university accepts.
The fine print
Before you enroll in one of the college find out the best referrer for yourself. It can be your manager, or your senior in college or alumnus you know well, a client, a consultant or your former boss. Candidates should design a recommendation strategy and ensure that your referrer could justify your purpose of studying there, and why you deserve that place.
The essays play a vital role in deciding whether you get interviewed or not. These essays are typically short- often 500 words or less than that. You can also include the present role in your team, type of responsibilities and career choices and professional aspirations.
It is worth knowing what exactly the school or university is looking into the student. Most of the schools are looking for an international outlook, cross-cultural awareness, a good personality and active participation in extracurricular activities are essential.
A perfect GMAT score, is no guarantee for success. The most common factor in failing at interview is bad communication skills, poor interpersonal skills or dubious motivation.
